Miss Rwanda 2022, Muheto Nshuti Divine, has directly addressed and dismissed rumors about her alleged arrest, which circulated widely on social media on November 18, 2024. Speaking to Isimbi TV, Muheto clarified that she was neither arrested nor in any legal trouble. She expressed confusion over the source of these false claims, emphasizing their lack of credibility.
She explained:
“I am fine, healthy, and grateful to God. I am not under arrest. Frankly, I don’t understand where this is coming from or who initiated it, but these are baseless rumors. Some people do not wish to see others thrive, yet I remain at peace.”

Muheto stressed that such rumors often arise from individuals who resent others’ progress. Nevertheless, she affirmed her focus on personal growth and moving forward positively.
Recent Legal Incident
The rumors seemed to stem from a legal issue she had faced earlier in the year. On October 29, 2024, the Rwanda National Police issued a statement confirming Muheto’s arrest for several offenses. These included driving under the influence of alcohol beyond the legal limit, driving without a valid license, causing damage to infrastructure in an accident, and fleeing the scene. The incident reportedly occurred on October 20, 2024.
During her court appearance on October 31, 2024, she faced charges for these infractions. By November 6, 2024, the court had delivered its judgment. Muheto was convicted of driving under the influence and operating a vehicle without a license. As a result, she was sentenced to:
- A suspended three-month prison term for one year.
- A fine of 190,000 Rwandan Francs (Frw).
Following the ruling, the court authorized her immediate release.
Public Reaction
Despite resolving the case, the recent rumors suggest some individuals aim to tarnish her image. Addressing these claims, Muheto questioned their intentions while reaffirming her commitment to living a peaceful and constructive life.
Her Current Status
Muheto assured her supporters that she is safe, healthy, and undeterred by the negativity. She concluded:
“I remain focused on my journey. To those spreading lies, I encourage them to seek personal growth and dedicate their energy to meaningful pursuits instead of trying to bring others down.”
This statement reflects her resilience and determination to rise above challenges, further solidifying her role as a positive influence in Rwandan society.
